Our Unique "Designer Training Program":
Small classes and professional instructors will see that
you are prepared, one subject at a time, to move to the
next unit. Each subject is taught beginning with one week
of intensive classroom work followed by sessions of
supervised experience on mannequins and live clients on our
student cosmetology clinic. These units, in order, are:
"D1" Hairstyling, "D2" Hair Shaping, "D3" Color, "D4"
Permanent Waving and Relaxing, "D5" Specialty Subjects
including Hair Extensions, Brow Tinting,
and Lash Extensions, as well as
"D6" Intro to Nail Extension intro.
"The 'Bootcamp'
module of this program was even greater than my
expectations. In my very first month in a salon job,
I'll never forget the day someone else's
client asked the front desk if she could have ME
next time, because she was impressed by watching me
work. My clients love that I've had extensive
training from a world class professional. My
instructors have also become my personal mentors as
I move on in my career, helping me make professional
decisions. I not only became more skilled and
confident in cutting and styling, but I gained more
insight into client retention." Crystal Walker
"When I
received word that my position in corporate America
was to be eliminated, I gleefully said 'Thank you
very much- I'm finally going to beauty school!' The
Bootcamp at Loraine's Academy was a great start to
my advanced education and, in my opinion, is an
absolute must for any student who is serious about
the art of doing hair." Tiffany Anderson
"Bootcamp was a
big sacrifice for me, but it was well worth getting
up out of a warm bed on an occasional Saturday
morning. Mr. Della Penna has traveled and competed
in hair competitions all around the world. He
has seen it all and done it all. For me to
have had the opportunity to be taught by a world
champion is an honor; had I not attended Loraine's
Academy I would have missed out on the greatest
opportunity of a lifetime." Barbara Boyd
"This is an
excellent program for gaining advanced techniques.
The instuctors are firm but flexible, and what I
learned doubled my abilities...which were already
pretty strong from the regular cosmetology training
at Loraines. If you do the time, you can make it...
and the class will change your life." Michael
Montgomery
"Michael Della
Penna loves to teach and it shows when you are in
his class. He holds nothing back. He wants us
to succeed. I feel my skills have greatly
improved in both cutting and styling. More than
ever, I really see the importance of 'finishing' my
work." Melissa Pierson
"I absolutely
loved Bootcamp. I have a new awareness of all
the different techniques and trends in hair cutting
and styling. The best thing about it is the
structure and repetitiveness of techniques.
The more you do them, the better you get. It's an
awesome program and I'd tell anyone they should
definitely consider enrolling. Especially if
they want to improve their skills and gain more
knowledge. The Bootcamp is both empowering and
motivating." Kimberly Cunningham
"Overall...the
Bootcamp covered a wealth of knowledge about cutting
and finishing a hairstyle...SUPER! The techniques
taught are the types that show the correct and
precise way to finish a hairstyle with beautiful
results. I am able to approach and execute ANY
haircut and style with no fear...GOOD! Mil

Job
Demand Survey 2007
Results for Florida |
|
Since 1990,
NACCAS has commissioned several Job Demand Surveys,
to provide quantitative data on cosmetology careers,
earnings potential, and job openings. The most
recent survey, completed in May 2007, compiles data
from 6,203 salons responding to a national survey.
The 2007
Job Demand Survey results indicate that salons in
Florida plan to hire 39,686 new employees in the
next twelve months. The average annual salary for a
salon professional in Florida is $39,015. This
amount does not include tips and gratuities.
Nationally, the average salon professional’s salary
is $35,973.
Most importantly, 81 percent
of Florida salon owners who attempted to hire new
employees in 2006 said they were unable to find
properly-trained applicants. This means that
jobs would be immediately available for salon
professionals
 |
Chart 1 –
Percent of anticipated new hires by job category.
As of
January 2007, there were 167,713 professionals
employed at Florida’s 22,832 salons. 63 percent of
salons in the state are employer-owned, and 13
percent are booth-rental salons. The other 24
percent are a combination of the two.
51
percent of Florida salons are classified by their
owners as full-service salons; 11 percent are listed
as haircutting salons. Barbershops make up 17
percent of the total. Nationally, 58 percent of
salons are listed as full-service, meaning that
Florida has a somewhat higher percentage of
specialized establishments.
|
We have a strong
relationship with our local salons and they
want to meet our students even before you
graduate. There is a dramatic shortage of
Facial Specialists, Nail Technicians,
Stylists, Massage Therapists and other
salon professionals, offering a very unique
industry opportunity with "Zero
Unemployment". Whether it is a new first
career option or a mid-life career change,
there are many, many more job openings than
there are licensed graduates to fill these
openings.
Standard day schedules are 8:30 am to 3:00 pm,
Monday - Friday. Evening Classes meet 5:30 to 9:30 pm
Monday - Friday. Completing the program and preparing for
licensure will take, for instance, a little less than a year on a 30 hour
per week schedule. Individualized schedules may be arranged
to meet your needs.
Housing is not provided by
the school. There are plenty of apartments
and rooms to rent nearby, with easy access
to public transportation. We will be happy
to assist out-of town students in their
selection of a suitable place to stay.
